Competitor Monitoring Workflow: Pricing, Features and Positioning Tracked Weekly
Competitor intelligence is usually a slide someone made once. The workflow watches the sources that actually reveal a competitor's moves — pricing pages, changelogs and release notes, job postings, app-store and G2 reviews, ad libraries, press — detects material changes rather than noise, and has an AI agent write a weekly brief: what changed, what it suggests about their strategy, and what your team should do about it.

The problem
Competitors change pricing and ship features that nobody notices until a sales call goes wrong. Monitoring is manual, sporadic and unshared. The insight that mattered was on a page nobody checked.
What changes when it runs
Every Monday, marketing, product and sales get a brief with the week's material competitor changes and their implications, backed by before/after snapshots. Battle cards stay current, pricing decisions are made with current data, and the team stops being surprised.
Trigger, then 8 steps
Trigger
Schedule Trigger (daily collection, weekly brief)
Daily snapshots of monitored pages and feeds; the brief compiles weekly, with instant alerts for pricing changes.
Snapshot monitored pages
HTTP RequestPricing, features, changelog and careers pages for each competitor fetched daily (via a headless fetch service for JavaScript-heavy pages) and stored with a hash.
Collect feeds
HTTP RequestRelease-note RSS, job boards, G2/Capterra/app-store reviews, LinkedIn company posts, Meta and Google ad libraries, and news APIs per competitor.
Detect material changes
CodeDiffs on page text; noise rules drop cosmetic changes; pricing tables parsed into numbers so a price change is a data event, not a text diff.
Classify and assess
AI AgentEach change classified (pricing, packaging, feature, positioning, hiring signal, sentiment) and assessed: what it likely means and which of your segments or deals it affects.
Instant alerts for pricing
IFPricing and packaging changes alert the product-marketing channel immediately with the before/after.
Write the weekly brief
AI AgentRanked changes with evidence links and snapshots, a short read on each competitor's direction, and suggested actions for sales, product and marketing.
Update battle cards
NotionCompetitor pages in the wiki updated with the new facts and dated; sales sees the change history.
Distribute and log
SlackBrief posted and emailed; every change stored so quarterly reviews can show trends.
Data it touches
- Competitor websites (pricing, features, changelog, careers)
- Review sites and app stores
- Ad libraries (Meta, Google) and news APIs
- Job boards and LinkedIn company pages
- Your own battle cards / wiki
Guardrails
- Only public sources are monitored; no login walls, no scraping in violation of terms.
- Assessments are labelled as inference and tied to the evidence snapshot.
- Pricing alerts include the raw before/after so nobody acts on a misparse.
- The brief is reviewed by product marketing before it reaches sales.
Material changes, not diffs
Page monitors that email every text change get muted in a week. The workflow parses pricing tables into numbers, ignores cosmetic edits, classifies each change and ranks by materiality. A competitor moving a feature from Enterprise to Pro is a brief item; a competitor fixing a typo is not. That filter is what keeps the brief read.
Hiring is a leading indicator
Job postings tell you what a competitor is building six months before it ships: a cluster of postings for voice engineers, a first hire in a new region, a head of partnerships. The workflow tracks postings per competitor by function and flags shifts. It is the cheapest strategic signal available and almost nobody watches it systematically.

Frequently asked questions
Is scraping competitors' sites allowed?
Public pages are fetched respectfully (rate-limited, no login) for internal analysis, which is standard competitive intelligence practice; the workflow does not bypass access controls or republish content. Review-site and ad-library access uses their public interfaces or APIs.
How many competitors can it track?
Eight in the subscription; more is a custom configuration. Most teams track five closely and a longer list for pricing only.
Can sales get alerts about specific competitors?
Yes — alerts route by competitor to the channels or people who own those deals.
